In February this year I was introduced to the world of GoPro, with the HERO3 Black Edition for my 23rd birthday... and what a world I was missing out on! Instantly after taking to the web, I could see the brillance that was jammed pack within this insanely small camera. So after spending a few weekends down the beach in the sunshine, I've put together a glimpse of the footage this thing can capture—and at 240 frames taken every second, it does a pretty sexy slow motion...

Cowan website
As some of you may know, I've started a new role at Cowan and I'm now responsible for communications and online media. This puts me at the realm for updating the global website. Last week, much to the teams excitement, we took down the old site, and replaced it with a fresh holding page. This will now push the full redesign forward, and we should have something up within 6 weeks. It truly is exciting times at Cowan !

Porsche 911
What do you get, decades later, when simplicity meets refinement? The evolution of the Coca-Cola bottle, the product designs of Apple, the taste of Heineken, the logo mark of Shell, the packaging of Marlboro, and what's commonly known as the best sports car in the world, the Porsche 911.
Since 1963, the production line of this very special car currently stands at 76 years, and yet still remains a true descendant of the original concept—sporty design, distinctive shape, balanced handling, and a driving pleasure that can be felt through the steering wheel that invigorates passion in every true driver.
Porsche are proud of the 911, and they should be. They've stayed true to this car, with every update, and is now my favourite piece of design in the world...

Josip Kelava: MDC
I'm in love the latest campaign for the Melbourne Dance Company by Josip Kelava. Yes, it's aesthetically stunning, and the type is beautifully crafted—but most compelling is the treatment of the photography and type communicating a frozen moment of movement and capturing the grace of dance. Josip himself sums it up perfectly... "I had to remember that dance was an expression of movement, and thus, I wanted the type to wrap around the dancer, as if it was dancing on it’s own"... Brilliant !

iPhone Wallpaper
When the release of Apple's OS X Lion came along, I started to realise just how 'Apple' the galaxy space photography was beginning to be. The desktop images & screen savers have been apart of the Mac software for a while now—Steve Jobs was reportedly fascinated by NASA's photographic collection—and since the release of Mountain Lion, I've taken it upon myself (seeing Apple surprisingly hasn't), to apply this same idea to the iPhone. Copy the jpeg images below and add it to your iPhones photo collection—or alternatively open my blog on your phone and save an image. I thought it was worth sharing so you could see how great it looks on your phones!

Farewell London

My time in this great city is almost at an end. In just 6 short months, I never thought I'd learn so much and come to love this home away from home. My time here has without doubt been the most rewarding of my life (22 years and counting). The seeds of independence I had to muster-up back in June when making the decision to leave, have no doubt proven themselves (although I had my doubts).
Starting in January next year, I will be working from the Melbourne office—continuing this great journey of learnings. I will however miss the tube stations, pommy accents (the brits pronounce yoghurt; YOG-urt) and having a 'Pret' store at literally every corner.

The creative talent I've been lucky enough to work with in the studio has been a pleasure and I would like to thank the city, the people and the weather for providing at least 2 days of summer. I can now say I truly know the difference between chips & crisps and what a real winter feels like. These great memories I will no doubt have forever. Cheers, to England and the Union Jack.

129 typography
This is a small bit of typography design I completed for the cover of a house brochure back home. I designed the internal spreads as well which have now been printed—when I return home in December, I will post up some photos of the finished brochure.

Windows 8 Packaging

Today has come as a nice surprise. The new packaging for Windows 8 has just been unveiled, and I truly appreciate it. Their new brand identity is slowly growing on me, and this well considered pack design really wins me over. In fact, what I like about this design most is that it's a step away from Apple. It may only be a little step, but I do believe they are steering for a different look and feel, that will hopefully, in a few years, be well established as their own. It does however do what Apple's packaging does best; gets you excited about the product inside—which unfortunately may be a let down, judging by the initial reviews of the software. Kudos for the effort anyway. Check out the link below for more pictures.
